Who we are

J & R Machine Works has been in Business in the Antelope Valley since 1989 and counts with over 28 years of experience. We are located on a 5-acre lot with over 3,100 square feet of work space. We work hard to meet every customers needs and make every effort to assure the highest quality product. We are always looking forward to working with new customers and taking on new challenges.

Jesse Alvarado

President and Owner

In 1989, Jesse opened shop in his own garage, while continuing his regular job. In 1992, after seven years with his second employer and three years in his garage, Jesse rented a 1,200 square ft space in Lancaster, California, and opened shop as J&R; Machine Works. Outgrowing two spaces within two years, he built a 3,100 sq ft shop which now houses 12 employees, running 14 CNCs and assorted support equipment. He later added a 600 sq ft building for metrology and administrative office space.

Maria (Isabel) Alvarado

Admin Manager

A founding member of J&R; Machine Works, Maria has been with the company since it's inception. She is responsible for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Jesse Alvarado Jr.

Operations Manager

Jesse Jr. is responsible for 5-axis programming, setup and daily operations of the milling department.

Jonathan Varela

Quality Manager

Jonathan oversees all quality and metrology operations. He ensures that all the parts made at J&R; are made to the highest of quality standards.


Christine Walz

With more than 15 years of aerospace experience, Christine has an extensive background in sales, purchasing and process management. Planning/Quoting parts from womb to tomb has lead to a wealth of knowledge in thermal / wet processing and blue print reading. Relationship building - both internal and external - makes her valuable addition to J&R; Machine Works.
